BLDC commutation controller — pre-driver stage
The Texas Instruments UC3625DW is a brushless DC (BLDC) motor controller that handles commutation and direction management. It outputs three half-bridge pre-drive signals — one per motor phase — intended to drive external Power MOSFET or Power Darlington transistors. Supply range is 10V to 18V, and the interface is parallel, so a simple microcontroller GPIO bank or a few discrete logic lines can set the commutation pattern. This is a controller, not a fully integrated driver: the power stage lives off-chip. That gives the designer control over the MOSFET or Darlington selection — Rds(on), current rating, switching speed — rather than being locked into an integrated power stage.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for 0°C to 70°C junction temperature, this part is specified for commercial indoor equipment — benchtop instruments, office automation, lab-grade motion stages, or consumer appliances. Not suited for outdoor, under-hood, or factory-floor environments where the ambient regularly exceeds 70°C.
Package and mounting
Housed in a 28-pin SOIC with 7.50 mm body width (0.295"), surface-mount only. The wide-body SOIC footprint is common for motor-control ICs that need decent thermal dissipation through the leads. Supplied in Tube — not Tape & Reel — so plan for pick-and-place feeder changeover if your line is set up for reels.
Lifecycle and sourcing
ROHS3 compliant.
