Four Schottky diodes in one 8-DIP package
The UC3611N from Texas Instruments integrates four independent Schottky diodes in a single 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62 mm) through-hole package. Each diode is rated for a maximum reverse voltage of 50 V and delivers 3 A of average rectified current, with a typical forward voltage drop of 1.2 V at 1 A. The 20 ns reverse recovery time places it in the fast-recovery class for Schottky devices, suitable for switching applications up to several hundred kHz.
The 20 ns reverse recovery time is the key switching parameter. In a bridge rectifier or freewheeling diode leg, this trr limits the reverse-recovery charge that must be swept out before the diode blocks. At switching frequencies above 100 kHz, a 20 ns trr keeps the switching losses low enough that the 8-DIP package's thermal resistance — not the die — becomes the current bottleneck.
