8V fixed output, 100mA capacity — headroom and dropout
The Texas Instruments UA78L08ACLPRE3 is a fixed 8V positive LDO regulator delivering up to 100mA continuous output. Power-supply rejection ratio is 46dB at 120Hz — this attenuates 120Hz ripple from a full-wave rectifier by a factor of 200, keeping the 8V rail clean for analog or reference circuits that are sensitive to mains-frequency hum.
Protection suite and temperature range
On-chip protection includes over-current, over-temperature, reverse polarity, and short-circuit — the regulator survives a sustained output short without damage, and reverse-bias on the input does not destroy the pass element. Operating junction temperature spans 0°C to 125°C, covering commercial and most industrial ambient conditions. The TO-92-3 package (TO-226AA) with formed leads is a through-hole footprint that suits prototyping, low-volume production, or rework scenarios where a surface-mount part is impractical. The tape-and-reel option supports automated insertion for higher-volume builds.
