Fixed 8 V output, 1.5 A — what this regulator delivers
The UA7808CKTE is a single-output positive fixed linear regulator from the 78xx family, set to 8 V. It sources up to 1.5 A continuous, with a maximum input of 25 V. The fixed output means no external resistor divider — just input and output caps and it regulates. Protection features include over-temperature and reverse polarity, which covers the common failure modes in a bench supply or motor-drive bias rail.
PSRR and dropout — the numbers that matter for your rail
PSRR is spec'd at 72 dB to 62 dB at 120 Hz. Dropout is 2 V maximum at 1 A.
Package and mounting — TO-252-4 DPak
Surface-mount in a TO-252-4 DPak (3 leads plus tab). The tab is the output and the primary thermal path. Board layout needs a decent copper area under the tab — this is a 1.5 A part, and at high dropout the power dissipation can hit several watts. The 3-PowerFLEX™ supplier package designation means the tab is soldered, not bolted. Operating temperature is 0 °C to 125 °C — fine for indoor industrial gear, but the 0 °C floor rules out cold outdoor or automotive under-hood.
