Product details

100 Mbps auto-direction translator — no direction pin needed

The Texas Instruments TXB0104GXUR is a 4-channel bidirectional voltage-level translator that handles 100 Mbps data rates without a direction-control GPIO. The auto-direction sensing circuit detects the data flow on each channel independently, so the firmware just drives the signal — no register write, no pin toggle. This saves a processor pin and simplifies the porting layer when bridging a 1.8 V MCU to a 3.3 V peripheral or a 3.3 V ASIC to a 5 V legacy bus. The A-side is the lower-voltage domain; the B-side is the higher. The 100 Mbps ceiling covers SPI, SDIO, UART, and general-purpose GPIO translation — but not high-speed memory interfaces or DDR.

12-BGA Microstar Junior — footprint and rework

The 12-UFBGA package (2 x 2.5 mm body, 0.5 mm ball pitch) is the smallest footprint in the TXB0104 family. The 12-BGA Microstar Junior (2x2.5) supplier device package means the PCB land pattern is tight — route the fanout vias on a 0.8 mm or thinner PCB stackup. Hot-air rework is possible with a fine nozzle and a preheat plate, but the 0.5 mm pitch leaves no room for manual alignment; stencil printing and reflow are the production path.

Industrial temp range — outdoor and factory-floor capable

For under-hood or engine-bay deployment, step up to the TXB0104-Q1 family.

TI lists the TXB0104GXUR as Active.

Frequently asked questions

Is TXB0104GXUR bidirectional?

Yes, all four channels are bidirectional with auto-direction sensing — no direction-control signal is needed. The translator detects the data direction on each channel independently.
