What this LDO is and where it fits
The Texas Instruments TPS7A0525PYKAR is a fixed 2.5 V output, positive-voltage linear regulator rated for 200 mA continuous output. It comes in a 4-bump DSBGA (4-DSBGA) package — roughly 1×1 mm — suited for space-constrained, low-profile designs such as wearable electronics, compact sensor modules, and portable instruments. The junction temperature range of -40°C to 125°C covers industrial and automotive under-hood environments where the PCB sees elevated ambient temperatures.
3 µA quiescent current and 40 dB PSRR — the decision drivers
Quiescent current is 3 µA typical. PSRR holds 40 dB across 1 kHz to 1 MHz.
Package and mounting — plan the board layout early
The 4-DSBGA package has solder bumps on the bottom. Surface-mount assembly requires a solder-paste stencil and reflow oven.
Protection and compliance
Built-in protection includes over-current limit, thermal shutdown (over temperature), and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). The UVLO prevents the output from turning on until the input voltage is high enough for proper regulation, which avoids glitches during startup. ROHS3 compliant per; no exemptions that complicate EU or California market entry.
