Supply range and temperature envelope
The TPS65980RHFT accepts a supply voltage from 2.5V to 15.75V, covering a wide set of common rails — 3.3V, 5V, 12V — without requiring an external pre-regulator. That flexibility simplifies the power tree for Thunderbolt interface designs. The 24-VQFN (5x4) exposed-pad package helps conduct heat to the PCB ground plane.
Application fit – Thunderbolt power management
This PMIC is listed for Thunderbolt applications, handling the power conversion and LDO regulation needed to supply the Thunderbolt controller and its associated circuitry. The 3 LDO outputs provide clean rails for sensitive analog or digital loads. The 5x4 mm footprint fits compact interface cards.
