Active PMIC for OMAP-based handheld designs
The Texas Instruments TPS659102A1RSLR is a power management IC designed specifically for handheld and mobile devices using OMAP application processors. It accepts a wide input range from 1.7V to 5.5V, covering single-cell Li-ion, 3.3V regulated, or 5V USB rails.
Supply range and thermal footprint
The 1.7V minimum input allows the PMIC to operate deep into a Li-ion cell's discharge curve, while the 5.5V maximum covers USB VBUS without an external pre-regulator. The exposed pad is electrically connected to the die substrate — the PCB layout must connect it to the system ground plane with low inductance.
