The Texas Instruments TPS65320DQPWPRQ1 is an automotive-grade power management IC combining a step-down (buck) regulator rated for 3.2A output with a linear (LDO) regulator rated for 280mA, all in a single 14-HTSSOP package with exposed pad for thermal management.
Input range and switching flexibility
The supply input accepts 3.6V to 36V, covering nominal 12V and 24V automotive battery rails including cold-crank and load-dump transients within the absolute maximum ratings. Switching frequency is programmable from 100kHz to 2.5MHz, letting the designer trade off inductor size against switching losses — lower frequencies for higher efficiency in tight thermal budgets, higher frequencies for smaller magnetics in space-constrained layouts.
Output rails and supervisor integration
Output 1 delivers 1.1V to 20V at up to 3.2A from the buck converter, sized for a microcontroller core or sensor supply rail. Output 2 delivers 1.1V to 5.5V at 280mA from the LDO, suitable for a CAN transceiver or always-on keep-alive rail. An integrated supervisor monitors the output voltages, eliminating a separate reset IC from the BOM — the part asserts a reset signal if either rail falls outside regulation.
