Notebook power rail converter in a 3x3 mm QFN

Input range and thermal envelope
The 4.5 V to 18 V input range covers the typical notebook battery voltage swing from a 2-cell Li-ion (7.2 V nominal) up to a 4-cell pack (14.8 V) or a 19 V adapter after a small headroom drop. The single fixed 1.2 V output targets the core voltage of a processor, FPGA, or SoC — a common rail in notebook power trees. The 18-VQFN-HR (3x3 mm) package footprint is small enough to fit in tight layout zones, but the exposed pad needs a solid thermal via pattern to keep RthJA in check; a layout engineer should allocate at least four vias under the pad tied to the ground plane.
