Product details

Three buck rails in one 6x6 mm QFN

The TPS65288RHAR from Texas Instruments packs three synchronous buck converters into a single 40-VFQFN package with a 6x6 mm footprint.

Switching frequency and inductor sizing

The 300 kHz to 2.2 MHz switching range gives the designer room to optimise: lower frequencies improve efficiency at light load, while higher frequencies shrink the inductor footprint. The synchronous rectifier keeps the efficiency curve competitive across the load range.

The 18 V input ceiling covers 12 V and 15 V rails cleanly; for 24 V industrial buses a pre-regulator or a higher-voltage part is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can TPS65288RHAR be used for 12V to 3.3V conversion?

Yes. The 4.5 V to 18 V input range covers 12 V rails, and the adjustable output can be set to 3.3 V using the feedback resistor divider. The 3 A and 2 A channels provide ample headroom for typical 3.3 V loads.
