6A per channel — two independent high-side switches in a 5x5 mm QFN
The Texas Instruments TPS65286RHDT integrates two N-channel high-side power switches rated for 6 A continuous each, with a typical on-resistance of 100 mOhm per channel. The 1:1 input-to-output ratio means each switch passes the input rail straight to the load when enabled — no boost or charge pump needed for the gate drive, since the N-channel FETs are configured as high-side switches with an internal charge pump.
Fault protection set — UVLO, adjustable current limit, OVP, thermal shutdown
Built-in undervoltage lockout (UVLO) holds the outputs off until the input rail rises above the threshold, preventing the downstream load from seeing a brown-out condition. Over-voltage protection clamps the output during transients on the supply bus. The current-limit threshold is adjustable via an external resistor, letting you set the trip point below the 6 A maximum to match the load's inrush profile or the downstream wiring rating. Over-temperature protection shuts down the channel if the die exceeds the safe junction limit.
Slew-rate control and status flag — sequenced turn-on and fault reporting
Each output channel includes slew-rate control, which limits the inrush current when the switch turns on into a capacitive load. This reduces the voltage droop on the input rail and avoids nuisance tripping of the upstream supply. A status flag output (open-drain, active low) asserts when a fault — current limit, over-voltage, or thermal shutdown — is detected on either channel. The flag can be pulled up to a logic rail and read by a microcontroller or used to gate an enable signal.
