Boost plus LDO in a 3×3 mm QFN
The TPS65235-1RUKT integrates a step-up (boost) converter and a linear regulator (LDO) in a single 20-pin WQFN package measuring 3×3 mm. This topology saves board space and reduces BOM count compared to a discrete boost plus separate LDO — the boost pre-regulates the rail feeding the LDO, so the LDO sees a clean input even when the battery or intermediate bus sags.
Input range and output current ceiling
The supply voltage spans 4.5V to 20V, covering common Li-ion battery stacks (2S–5S) and 12V/24V industrial rails. Output 1 is rated at 2.4A — that is the boost converter's peak switch current, so the actual output current depends on the input-to-output voltage ratio and inductor selection. Output 2 is programmable, giving flexibility for a secondary rail that the LDO regulates down from the boost output. Switching frequency is selectable at 500 kHz or 1 MHz. The higher frequency shrinks the inductor footprint but increases switching losses; the lower frequency improves efficiency at heavy loads.
