Seven-rail PMIC for Cortex-A8/A9 and FPGA power trees
The Texas Instruments TPS65218D0PHPT is a power management IC designed to supply the multiple voltage rails required by ARM Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A9 based SoCs, as well as FPGAs. It integrates seven outputs from a single 2.2V to 5.5V input, generating the core, I/O, memory, and auxiliary voltages a typical processor power tree needs — no separate sequencing controller required.
2.2V to 5.5V input — single supply rail coverage
The input range spans a single lithium-ion cell (3.0V–4.2V nominal) through 5V USB and regulated 3.3V or 5V system rails. That means the PMIC can run directly off a battery or a pre-regulated bus without an extra front-end converter. The 2.2V lower limit gives headroom for deeply discharged cells or low-voltage intermediate buses.
Seven configurable outputs — mapping the power tree
With seven outputs that can be set to multiple voltage levels, this PMIC covers the split-rail needs of a Cortex-A8/A9 design: a core rail, a memory rail, an I/O rail, and auxiliary supplies.
