Battery management PMIC for portable systems
The supply voltage range spans 4.3 V to 5.8 V, covering the typical voltage of a single-cell Li-ion battery or a 5 V USB rail. The quiescent supply current sits at 15 µA, which is the spec that makes this part attractive for always-on, battery-powered designs where every microamp of standby draw shortens the shelf life.
Package and thermal pad layout
Without it, the 15 µA quiescent current isn't the concern, but the charger pass element's dissipation at higher charge currents can push the junction above 105°C. The mounting method is surface mount. The exposed pad requires a solder paste stencil aperture covering 50–70 % of the pad area to avoid voids; a solid paste layer under the whole pad can trap flux gas and cause head-in-pillow defects on the peripheral QFN pins.
The base product number is TPS652170, so if you need to cross-reference a different package variant or temperature grade, that base number is the starting point. For volume production, order the TR variant; for prototyping or small runs, CT works but carries a price break penalty per unit.
