E Ink display bias supply — what the 5.5 mA quiescent means
The TPS65182BRGZR is a power-management IC from Texas Instruments purpose-built for E Ink® Vizplex™ electrophoretic displays — the same panel technology used in e-readers and low-power signage. Its 5.5 mA supply current is the standby budget the system designer must allocate; the IC itself draws that quiescent before any panel update current, so the total system power in a battery-powered reader hinges on this number plus the waveform drive overhead.
Supply range and temperature — where this PMIC fits
The input supply range spans 3 V to 6 V, covering single-cell Li-ion (3.7 V nominal) and regulated 5 V rails. The operating temperature floor of -10°C means it is specified for indoor consumer and commercial environments — e-readers, retail shelf labels, and office signage — but not for outdoor cold-start or automotive cabin deployment where -40°C is typical. The 48-VFQFN with exposed pad needs a thermal-land pattern on the PCB; the pad is the primary heat path, so the board layout should include a via array under the package to the ground plane.
