E Ink Vizplex power management — what this PMIC does
The TPS65180BRGZT is a dedicated power-management IC from Texas Instruments designed for E Ink Vizplex electrophoretic displays, with compatibility also listed for OMAP application processors. It integrates the multiple voltage rails — positive and negative drive, gate, and logic supplies — that an E Ink panel needs, in a single 48-VQFN (7x7 mm) package with exposed pad for thermal relief.
Supply range and quiescent current
Runs from a 3V to 6V input rail — typical for a Li-ion battery or a 5V USB bus — and draws 5.5 mA typical supply current. That 5.5 mA figure is the total IC quiescent plus switching overhead; the actual panel load adds on top. For a battery-powered e-reader, every millamp matters, and this part keeps the overhead low enough that the display update current dominates the power budget.
Temperature grade and board environment
Rated for -10°C to 85°C operating ambient. That covers indoor consumer electronics, point-of-sale displays, and warehouse terminals — but not automotive cabin or outdoor direct-sun enclosures.
Sourcing posture — active and available through distribution
It is RoHS3 compliant.
