Four-rail TFT bias supply in a 28-HTSSOP
The Texas Instruments TPS65160APWPR is a multi-output DC/DC converter IC designed specifically for TFT LCD panel bias supplies. It generates the four regulated voltages—gate-on, gate-off, common-electrode, and logic supply—that a TFT display needs from a single input rail. The input range of 9.2 V to 14 V covers typical 12 V backlight and system supplies, while the output can go up to 17.5 V to bias the gate drivers.
Input rail and output headroom
The 9.2 V to 14 V input window means this part expects a regulated intermediate bus, not a raw battery or unregulated adapter. The 17.5 V output ceiling is enough for most small-to-medium TFT panels; if the panel requires a higher VGH, a different converter in the family would be needed. The four outputs are independently regulated, so the designer sets each rail with an external resistor divider.
