TFT-LCD bias supply — four rails from one IC
The Texas Instruments TPS65100RGER is a dedicated power-management IC for TFT-LCD panels, integrating four regulated outputs from a single 2.7V to 5.8V input rail. It generates the three main bias voltages required by a TFT display — the source driver supply, the gate-on voltage, and the gate-off voltage — plus a fourth programmable output for an auxiliary rail like the backlight controller or VCOM buffer.
Input range and output architecture
The 2.7V to 5.8V input window lets the part run from a single 3.3V or 5V supply, or directly from a Li-ion battery (3.0V to 4.2V typical) without an extra pre-regulator. Four separate outputs are sequenced internally to prevent latch-up in the LCD source drivers — the order is fixed by the TPS65100's internal logic, so the panel datasheet's power-up sequence must match.
