Eight-rail PMIC for mobile PC power trees
The TPS650830ZAJT from Texas Instruments is an eight-output power-management IC (PMIC) purpose-built for mobile PC converters. It accepts a 5.4V to 24V input rail and delivers multiple regulated outputs from a single 168-ball TFBGA package.
Supply range and output count
Eight independent output rails let this single IC replace multiple discrete regulators in a chipset power sequence, saving board space and BOM line items. The 5.4V minimum input means it can run from a 5V rail with margin, while the 24V ceiling accommodates higher-voltage adapter inputs common in mobile PCs.
Active lifecycle and package reality
The 168-NFBGA (7x7 mm) package is a fine-pitch BGA — not a hand-solderable part. Plan for a stencil, reflow oven, and X-ray inspection during assembly.
