Active PMIC for mobile/OMAP power rails
The Texas Instruments TPS65051RSMTG4 is a power management IC designed for Mobile/OMAP applications, integrating multiple voltage rails and sequencing in a single 32-VFQFN Exposed Pad package. It accepts a supply range from 1.5V to 6V and draws only 1.25mA supply current, making it suitable for battery-powered portable devices where every microamp matters.
The 1.5V to 6V input span covers single-cell Li-ion (3.0V–4.2V nominal) and two-cell alkaline or NiMH stacks, so the same PMIC can serve different battery chemistries without a supply-rail redesign. The 1.25mA supply current is the IC's own consumption — it sets the floor for standby battery drain. In a 1000 mAh battery, that quiescent draw alone would deplete the pack in about 33 days if the system never sleeps; the real system load will be higher, but this number tells you the PMIC isn't the dominant idle consumer.
