Active PMIC for single-cell Li-Ion portable designs
The Texas Instruments TPS65023RSBRG4 is a power management IC built around a single-cell Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer battery input. It integrates multiple voltage rails and includes an I2C interface for dynamic output adjustment, which is useful when the application processor or SoC needs to scale core voltage for power savings.
Package and thermal note for the layout
The 40-WFQFN Exposed Pad package has a 5x5 mm body. Over-temperature fault protection is built in — the PMIC shuts down if the die exceeds the thermal threshold, which saves the board from a cascading failure if the load shorts or the ambient spikes.
That means no last-time-buy scramble and no forced redesign for the next production run.
