Dual step-down converter for handheld power rails
The input range from 2.3 V to 6 V covers single-cell Li-ion (3.0–4.2 V) and two-cell alkaline or NiMH stacks, so the same part can serve a lithium-powered handheld or a multi-cell portable instrument without a separate pre-regulator.
Supply-range flexibility and switching frequency
The 2.25 MHz switching frequency lets the output filter use small ceramic capacitors and low-profile inductors — critical when board height is constrained inside a handheld enclosure. The 2.3 V minimum input means the part keeps running as a single Li-ion cell drops toward its discharge floor (around 3.0 V under load), though the converter will hit dropout before the cell is fully dead.
