Fixed 5V rail from a 2.5V to 12V input
The TPS63061DSCT is a fixed 5V output buck-boost converter from Texas Instruments, built to hold a regulated 5V rail whether the input sits above, below, or equal to the output. That 2.5V to 12V input range covers single-cell Li-ion through to a 12V bus, so it handles battery discharge from full down to the cutoff without dropping out. The 2A switch current rating sets the load budget — derate for ambient temperature and the 10-WSON package's thermal resistance, but it comfortably drives loads in the 1–1.5 A range in typical portable or industrial designs.
2.4 MHz switching and synchronous rectification
Switching at 2.4 MHz keeps the inductor small — 1 µH to 2.2 µH range — which shrinks the overall footprint. That matters in efficiency-sensitive designs where every millivolt of headroom counts at the output.
10-WSON package — rework and thermal notes
The pad is the main thermal path — without it the junction temperature climbs fast at 2 A switching. Rework is doable with hot air if the board has a solder mask defined pad; the exposed pad wicks heat, so preheat the board to 100–120°C before lifting the part.
