Buck-boost regulator in a 0.4mm-pitch DSBGA
The TPS630250YFFT is a synchronous buck-boost converter from Texas Instruments that handles input voltages from 2.3V to 5.5V and delivers an adjustable output between 2.3V and 3.6V. It provides up to 2A in step-down mode and 4A in step-up mode, making it suitable for single-cell Li-Ion or multi-alkaline battery-powered systems where the input voltage can cross the output voltage. The 2.5MHz switching frequency allows the use of small inductors and capacitors, reducing the overall solution footprint — a key advantage for space-constrained portable or IoT designs. Its 20-bump DSBGA package (0.4mm pitch) requires a PCB with fine-line capability and careful thermal management; the small size is a trade-off against ease of manual rework.
ROHS3 compliant. This means you can design it into new BOMs without immediate lifecycle risk. Confirm your assembly house can handle the 0.4mm pitch before committing.
