Fixed 5V rail from a variable input
The TPS63002DRCTG4 is a synchronous buck-boost regulator from Texas Instruments that delivers a fixed 5V output from an input voltage that can range from 1.8V up to 5.5V. This means the part can regulate a clean 5V rail whether the input is a 3.3V system bus, a single-cell Li-ion battery dropping to 3.0V, or a 5V USB supply with tolerance — the topology handles the crossover without a mode-change glitch.
1.6A switch current — sizing the load
In a typical 5V-out application from a 3.3V input, expect around 1A continuous output before the switch current limit engages.
The 10-VSON package with exposed pad (3x3 mm) requires a thermal land pattern on the PCB — the datasheet layout recommendation is the starting point for the copper footprint.
