15 A point-of-load regulator with programmable output
The TPS62873Z1WRXSR is a single-output synchronous step-down (buck) converter delivering 15 A continuous from a 2.7 V to 6 V input rail. The output is programmable via external resistors from 0.4 V up to 3.35 V, covering the core and I/O supply voltages for modern FPGAs, ASICs, and processors. Four selectable switching frequencies — 1.5 MHz, 2.25 MHz, 2.5 MHz, and 3 MHz — let the designer trade off output ripple against efficiency and external component size. The synchronous rectifier eliminates the external Schottky catch diode, saving board area and reducing the BOM count. The 16-pin VQFN package with wettable flanks (2.55 mm × 3.55 mm) supports automated optical inspection (AOI) of the solder joints on the bottom-side thermal pad, a requirement for high-reliability assembly lines.
Temperature grade and junction range for industrial environments
The wide range also covers cold-start conditions down to -40°C. The 2.7 V minimum input allows operation from a 3.0 V rail during brownout or battery discharge.
