Input range and output flexibility
The 2.7 V minimum input covers single-cell Li-ion down to 3.0 V with margin, and the 6 V maximum keeps it off 12 V buses — this is a low-voltage rail part, not a multi-purpose wide-VIN regulator. The adjustable output from 0.6 V to 5.5 V lets it feed 1.2 V core rails, 1.8 V I/O, or 3.3 V peripheral supplies from the same BOM line.
