2.25 MHz switching — what it buys the layout
The TPS62560DRVR is a 600 mA step-down (buck) converter from Texas Instruments that switches at 2.25 MHz. That frequency lets you use a small inductor — typically 2.2 µH to 4.7 µH — and a ceramic output capacitor in the 10 µF range, shrinking the power stage to fit a 2x2 mm WSON footprint. The trade-off is switching losses climb with frequency, but at 600 mA load the efficiency stays competitive for battery-powered and 3.3 V/5 V intermediate-rail designs.
Input range and output adjustability
The output is adjustable from a 0.85 V minimum up to 5.5 V via an external resistor divider — useful for powering low-voltage cores (1.2 V, 1.8 V) or a clean 3.3 V rail from a 5 V bus.
Without that plane, the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance rises and the 600 mA full-load rating derates.
Temperature grade and deployment fit
The 2.25 MHz switching keeps the converter out of the AM band and reduces ripple coupling into nearby analog stages.
