2.5 MHz switching buys a small inductor
The Texas Instruments TPS62362YZHT is a DCS-Control™ step-down (buck) converter that switches at 2.5 MHz, letting you use a 1 µH to 2.2 µH inductor in a 0805 or 0603 footprint — the small passives shrink the total power-supply area to roughly the size of the DSBGA package itself. Rated for 2.5 A continuous output, it covers the core voltage rail for many of today's application processors, FPGAs, and DSPs that pull 1.5 A to 2 A steady-state with short bursts to the full rating.
Output voltage options and the BOM trade-off
The TPS62362YZHT offers a choice between an adjustable output (set by external resistors) and five fixed-voltage options: 0.77 V, 1 V, 1.1 V, 1.2 V, and 1.23 V. The fixed options eliminate the feedback divider and save two resistors — useful when your rail matches one of those values exactly. Input voltage range runs from 2.5 V minimum to 5.5 V maximum, so it works directly off a single-cell Li-ion battery (3.0 V to 4.2 V) or a 3.3 V / 5.0 V regulated rail.
Industrial temperature and DSBGA assembly
The 16-bump DSBGA package (2.24 x 2.16 mm body) saves board area but requires a controlled reflow profile, X-ray inspection for voiding and solder-joint integrity, and a PCB land pattern that follows TI's DSBGA application note. The synchronous rectifier is integrated — no external Schottky diode needed.
