Fixed 3.3V rail from a 2.3V to 6V input
The TPS62291DRVT is a Texas Instruments step-down buck converter that delivers a fixed 3.3V output at up to 1A from an input range of 2.3V to 6V. It switches at 2.25 MHz.
Package and rework — 6-WSON with exposed pad
Without it, the part runs hotter than the 1A rating suggests at elevated ambient. Orientation is straightforward: the WSON package has a pin-1 chamfer on the top, and the datasheet layout shows the pad connection. A hot-air rework station can lift this part cleanly if the board has enough copper soak to prevent pad lifting.
The synchronous rectifier (integrated low-side FET) improves efficiency at light loads, which matters for always-on industrial applications where every milliwatt counts.
