What this regulator does in your rail
The TPS62224DDCT is a synchronous step-down (buck) converter from Texas Instruments, delivering a fixed 1.6V output at up to 400 mA from an input range of 2.5V to 6V. The 1.25 MHz switching frequency keeps the inductor and output capacitor small — typically a 2.2 µH chip inductor and a 10 µF ceramic cap fit the bill, saving board space in space-constrained designs like wireless modules or sensor nodes.
Sizing the output for a 1.6V rail
The fixed 1.6V output means no external feedback divider; the output voltage is set internally, which simplifies the BOM and removes one potential tolerance stack-up. If your design needs a different voltage, look at the adjustable-output siblings in the TPS6222x family.
Texas Instruments has not issued a PCN or end-of-life notice for this part as of the current date. It is offered in both Tape & Reel and Cut Tape options, so prototype quantities and production reels are both available through our sourcing desk.
The part comes in a SOT-23-5 Thin package (also called TSOT-23-5), with a 0.95 mm pitch and a body size of roughly 2.9 mm × 1.6 mm. The thin profile (nominal height 0.9 mm) fits into low-profile enclosures.
