Fixed 1.875V rail at 300 mA — what it buys you
The TPS62208DBVT: This is a fixed-output buck converter that delivers 300 mA at 1.875 V from an input between 2.5 V and 6 V. The fixed output eliminates the external feedback divider, saving two resistors and one bypass cap compared to an adjustable part. The 1 MHz switching frequency lets you use a small inductor (typically 2.2 µH to 4.7 µH) and ceramic output caps, keeping the total solution footprint under 20 mm². The synchronous rectifier (internal FET for the low side) means no external Schottky diode is needed.
1 MHz switching — inductor and cap sizing
At 1 MHz, the inductor ripple current stays manageable with a 2.2 µH to 4.7 µH inductor. The output capacitor can be a 10 µF ceramic; the control loop is internally compensated for that range. If you push the inductor value lower, the ripple current rises and the output voltage ripple increases — the datasheet's application circuit is a safe starting point. The 1 MHz switching also keeps the switching losses low enough that the part can operate at 300 mA without a heatsink in the SOT-23-5 package. At full load and 85°C ambient, the junction temperature stays within the rated range as long as the PCB copper area around the part is adequate.
