300 mA step-down in a SOT-23-5 — what it buys you
The TPS62200DBVRG4 is a 300 mA synchronous buck converter from Texas Instruments, switching at 1 MHz to keep the inductor small enough for space-constrained portable or industrial rails.
Input range and output flexibility
The 6 V maximum input covers 5 V regulated buses and two-cell alkaline stacks. Output is adjustable from 0.7 V up to the input voltage, so the same BOM line can serve 1.2 V FPGA cores, 1.8 V I/O, or 3.3 V auxiliary rails by swapping the feedback divider. The 1 MHz switching frequency pushes the first harmonic above the AM broadcast band and lets the output filter use a 2.2 µH to 4.7 µH inductor — small enough for a 0805 or 1210 footprint. That keeps the total solution area under 30 mm² including the passives.
The SOT-23-5 package (SC-74A) has a junction-to-ambient thermal resistance around 200 °C/W on a standard two-layer board — at 300 mA output the die temperature stays well below the 125 °C absolute maximum in most ambient conditions.
