The TPS62184YZFR is a single-output step-down (buck) regulator from Texas Instruments, delivering 6 A from a 4 V to 17 V input rail. The output is adjustable from 0.9 V up to 3.5 V, and the part includes a synchronous rectifier — no external Schottky diode needed. Switching frequency is fixed at 1.5 MHz, which keeps the inductor small enough for space-constrained designs.
What the 125°C rating means on site
The 6 A output is continuous, not pulsed — if your load pulls 6 A steady, make sure the PCB copper under the DSBGA pads can sink the heat. The 1.5 MHz switching means the inductor value lands around 1 µH to 2.2 µH for most designs; you are trading off a bit of efficiency at light load for a smaller footprint.
Package and handling — DSBGA realities
This is a 24-ball DSBGA (diameter 0.4 mm balls, 0.5 mm pitch) — no leads to inspect, no exposed pad to solder. The reflow profile is standard SAC305, but the small ball size means the stencil aperture and paste volume matter more than with a QFN.
