3V to 17V input, fixed 5V rail — the BOM-fit check
The Texas Instruments TPS62153RGTT is a synchronous step-down (buck) regulator from the DCS-Control family, delivering a fixed 5V output at up to 1A from a 3V to 17V input rail. It integrates the synchronous rectifier, so no external Schottky catch diode is needed — the BOM stays tight for a 5V point-of-load rail.
2.5 MHz switching — inductor sizing and layout trade-offs
Switching at 2.5 MHz lets you pick a small inductor — typically 1 µH to 2.2 µH range — which saves board area on a 16-VFQFN (3x3) footprint. DCS-Control topology gives fast transient response without external compensation components — the loop is internally compensated, so you don't spend BOM lines on RC networks.
The 16-VFQFN package with exposed pad (3x3 mm) is a current-generation footprint — no pinout obsolescence risk against newer TI buck converters in the same package family.
