Automotive buck regulator for tight 3.3V rails
The TPS62152QRGTRQ1 is a fixed 3.3 V output step-down buck regulator from TI's automotive DCS-Control™ family, rated for 1 A continuous output at a 2.5 MHz switching frequency. Housed in a 16-VFQFN with exposed pad (3×3 mm), it targets point-of-load regulation in automotive ECUs, ADAS sensors, and infotainment modules where board space is constrained and the ambient temperature reaches 125°C junction.
That does not mean it is obsolete today, but it signals that TI is winding down support — no future datasheet revisions, no PCN-driven last-time-buy window. For a new design, the official recommendation is to evaluate the current-production successor in the same family.
2.5 MHz switching — inductor size and ripple trade-off
The 2.5 MHz switching frequency lets you use a small inductor — typically 1 µH to 2.2 µH — which keeps the total power-stage footprint under 25 mm² including input and output caps. The trade-off is higher switching losses at light load; the DCS-Control™ architecture compensates with pulse-skip at low output currents to maintain efficiency above 85% down to 1 mA load.
