The fixed 300 kHz switching frequency sets the inductor value and output capacitor ripple current. At this frequency, a 10 µH to 22 µH inductor is typical for a 500 mA load. The 300 kHz rate keeps switching losses low but places the fundamental switching tone below 1 MHz, which simplifies conducted EMI filtering for most industrial and consumer designs.
