2 A continuous in a 3x3 mm VQFN
The TPS62097QWRGTRQ1 delivers 2 A continuous output from a 16-VQFN (3x3 mm) package — that's the headline rating that decides whether this part can power a sensor module, an ECU core rail, or a CAN transceiver without stepping up to a larger package or adding external FETs. Input range spans 2.5 V to 6 V, covering the common automotive 3.3 V and 5 V buses, and the adjustable output can be set from 0.8 V up to 6 V via a resistor divider.
Automotive temperature and qualification
The switching frequency operates between 1.5 MHz and 2.5 MHz, which keeps the inductor small but demands careful PCB layout to minimise switching noise coupling into sensitive analog rails. Compared to the LMR33630APCQRNXRQ1 (3 A output, 2.1 MHz fixed frequency), the TPS62097 trades 1 A of output current for a wider input range (2.5 V min vs 3.8 V min) and a smaller package (3x3 mm vs 4x4 mm).
The 16-VQFN package has a wettable flank for enhanced solder-joint inspection — a practical advantage for automotive production lines using AOI.
