3 A, 4 MHz synchronous buck in a DSBGA-6
The Texas Instruments TPS6208818YFPT is a 3 A step-down buck converter built around the DCS-Control™ topology, switching at 4 MHz to keep the output inductor and capacitor physically small. The fixed 1.8 V output and integrated synchronous rectifier eliminate the external Schottky diode, saving board area in space-constrained designs like portable equipment, wireless modules, and point-of-load regulation.
Package and assembly consideration
The 6-DSBGA package is a wafer-level chip-scale package where the footprint is essentially the die size. The 0.4 mm ball pitch demands a controlled solder-paste stencil and a reflow profile matched to the board thickness. The small thermal mass means the part heats up quickly during reflow; a pre-bake at 125°C for 8 hours is recommended if the moisture-sensitive level (MSL) floor has been exceeded.
