2 A in a 2x2 mm WSON — the board-area trade-off
The TPS62065QDSGRQ1 is a Texas Instruments automotive-grade synchronous buck converter that delivers 2 A continuous output from a 2.9 V to 6 V input rail, switching at 3 MHz and fitting into an 8-WFDFN Exposed Pad package. The synchronous rectifier is integrated.
3 MHz switching — inductor shrinks, layout tightens
The trade-off is that the switching edges are fast enough that a poor layout will radiate noise and degrade regulation.
Automotive temperature range and qualification
The 2.9 V minimum input covers a 3.3 V rail with a reverse-protection diode drop; the 6 V maximum covers a nominal 5 V rail with margin. The adjustable output down to 0.8 V lets it feed low-voltage cores or I/O banks directly.
