1.6 A in a 2x2 mm WSON — the density trade-off
The TPS62061DSGT is a fixed 1.8 V output step-down buck converter from Texas Instruments, rated for 1.6 A continuous output. What makes it notable is that current level in an 8-WSON package with a 2x2 mm footprint — the exposed pad is the thermal path, and the board copper underneath sets how much current you can actually pull before the junction climbs. The 3 MHz switching frequency lets the output filter shrink to small 1 µH inductors and 10 µF ceramics, which is the whole point: a dense, low-profile rail for portable gear or multi-rail boards where every mm² counts.
Where the 3 MHz buys you board space
At 3 MHz the converter stays out of the AM band and above most sensitive IF strips, but the real win is the inductor size. A 3 MHz buck lets you pick a 1 µH to 2.2 µH shielded inductor in a 2x2.5 mm or 3x3 mm package — compare that to the 10 µH part a 600 kHz regulator would need. Input range from 2.7 V to 6 V covers single-cell Li-ion down to near-depletion and 5 V rails cleanly.
