Fixed 5V boost with a 2.9A switch in a 9-bump DSBGA
The fixed 5 V output eliminates the need for an external feedback divider, saving one resistor and reducing BOM count. Synchronous rectification improves efficiency at moderate-to-heavy loads compared to a diode-based boost, which matters when every milliampere-hour counts in a battery-powered system.
Package and mounting — 9-DSBGA, surface-mount only
Housed in a 9-bump DSBGA (Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package), the TPS61256AYFFR occupies a small board area. The trade-off is that DSBGA requires a well-controlled SMT process: solder-paste stencil aperture, reflow profile, and X-ray inspection are recommended for first-pass yield.
