Automotive-grade 5 V boost rail for space-constrained modules
The 3.5 MHz switching frequency allows the use of small external inductors and capacitors, making this part a fit for compact automotive modules such as infotainment head units, telematics control units, and sensor power supplies where board area is at a premium.
Fixed 5 V rail — no external divider needed
The output is internally set to 5 V (fixed), eliminating the feedback resistor divider and saving two external components. The 500 mA switch current limit defines the maximum output current — at 5 V out from a 3.3 V input, the available load current is approximately 300 mA to 350 mA after accounting for conversion losses, which is adequate for powering a small microcontroller, CAN transceiver, or sensor interface.
Switching frequency and synchronous rectification
The 3.5 MHz switching frequency keeps the inductor value in the 1 µH to 2.2 µH range and the output capacitor below 10 µF, supporting a total solution footprint under 15 mm². Synchronous rectification (integrated low-side and high-side switches) improves efficiency above 90 % at moderate loads and eliminates the external Schottky diode, reducing BOM count and board height.
Package and thermal interface
The 0.50 mm pitch WSON demands careful solder-paste stencil design to avoid bridging on the narrow pads.
