8-channel boost LED driver for backlight strings
Each channel delivers 25 mA, and the boost output can reach 38 V, which is enough headroom for a string of six to eight white LEDs in series.
PWM dimming — how it works on this part
Dimming is handled by a PWM input on the chip. The PWM signal modulates the LED current on/off at a duty cycle that sets the perceived brightness, while the boost converter stays running. This avoids the colour shift that analog current reduction can cause in white LEDs. The datasheet details the PWM frequency range and the minimum pulse width that guarantees accurate dimming.
Package and rework — QFN with exposed pad
The part comes in a 24-VFQFN with an exposed pad (24-VQFN 4x4 mm).
Supply voltage and input range
Input supply range is 4.2 V minimum to 24 V maximum.
