Six channels, 38 V boost, 1 MHz — the parametric fit for an LED backlight rail
The TPS61176RTER is a six-channel DC-DC boost LED driver from Texas Instruments, purpose-built for backlight applications. It integrates the switching FET internally and delivers up to 38 V on the output rail — enough headroom to drive a string of six to eight white LEDs in series per channel. Each channel is rated for 35 mA, and the driver supports both analog and PWM dimming, so the backlight can be throttled down to a low brightness without audible noise from the inductor.
Input rails and thermal envelope
The package is a 16-pin WQFN with an exposed thermal pad (3 mm × 3 mm). The datasheet's recommended land pattern calls for a 2.6 mm × 2.6 mm pad with via stitching to the inner ground layer.
The base product number TPS61176 covers the family; the RTER suffix indicates the tape-and-reel package option.
