Boost regulator for dual-string LED backlight
The TPS61150DRCT is a DC-DC boost regulator from Texas Instruments designed to drive two independent LED strings for backlight applications. It integrates the switching FET internally and delivers up to 27 V at 35 mA per channel, with PWM dimming for wide brightness control. Switching at 1.2 MHz allows the use of small external inductor and capacitor values, saving board space in compact display modules. The input supply range of 2.5 V to 6 V covers single Li-ion cell or standard 3.3 V/5 V rails without an extra regulator.
Two output channels with 35 mA per string
With two independent outputs, the TPS61150DRCT can drive separate LED strings for split-screen backlight or dual-panel designs, reducing component count versus using two single-channel drivers. Each channel is rated for 35 mA continuous current, suitable for small- to medium-sized LCD backlights. PWM dimming provides a wide dimming ratio without shifting the LED color temperature, critical for display applications where consistent white point is required.
