What the 800 mA switch current means for your rail
The TPS610996YFFR is a fixed-output boost converter from TI with an 800 mA switch current limit.
Input range: 0.7 V minimum — single-cell battery down to the knee
The 0.7 V minimum input lets this regulator extract usable energy from a single alkaline or NiMH cell well into its discharge curve, or from a Li-ion cell down to its cutoff.
The board requires a 4-layer stack-up for fan-out on the centre bumps; two-layer boards will struggle to route the output and input traces without vias. Rework needs a hot-air nozzle sized to the 1.5 mm body and a preheat plate to avoid thermal shock to the die.
