Step-Up Regulator for Single-Cell Battery Rails
The TPS610993YFFT is a synchronous boost converter from Texas Instruments that regulates a fixed 3V output from an input as low as 0.7V (min) up to 5.5V (max). The integrated switch is rated for 800mA, which means the part can support continuous loads of several hundred milliamps at 3V from a single alkaline cell, provided the inductor and input decoupling are sized for the peak switch current. Synchronous rectification improves efficiency at light loads compared to a diode-based boost, which matters for battery-powered designs where every milliwatt extends run time.
Industrial Temperature and Package Constraints
The 6-pin DSBGA is a wafer-level chip-scale package. Compared to the LM2750 charge pump (120mA max output,), the TPS610993YFFT offers 6.7× the switch current and maintains regulation down to 0.7V input versus 2.7V for the charge pump — a meaningful difference when the battery is near end-of-life.
