Switching frequency and thermal footprint
The TPS61094DSSR: The switching frequency is selectable between 500 kHz and 1 MHz — the lower setting reduces switching losses for light-load efficiency, while 1 MHz shrinks the inductor and output capacitor footprint at the cost of slightly higher FET losses. The synchronous rectifier integrates both high-side and low-side FETs, eliminating the external Schottky diode that a non-synchronous buck-boost would need — the efficiency gain is most visible at moderate loads where the diode forward drop would otherwise dominate.
